Score entry on a phone: the hole, par and stroke index, and plus and minus buttons with Save for each player in the group

How it works

Set up in minutes. Run it from your pocket.

The organizer's page for an event: share with players, the player address, the event password and the live board address
1

Create the event

Name it, pick the format and the date, choose gross, net or both. Pick the course from the shared course library — slope, rating, pars and stroke indexes come with it — or type it in. Set one event password.

Players score on their phones

They go to turfgolfevents.com/play and type their name and the event password. No app, no account. One phone can keep score for the whole group, and a mistake is fixed by entering the hole again.

The leaderboard runs itself

Open the live board on a TV in the clubhouse, or let everyone watch on their phone. Gross and net boards, how many holes each group has played, skins, and who holds the long drive.

Hand out the prizes

Lock the event when the last group is in. Winners, ties and side games are all there, and you can download the results. If a call has to be made, you can set a winner yourself.

Formats

The formats people actually play

ScrambleBest ballAlternate shot ScrumbleScrumble (sum)Stroke play
  • Teams of 1 to 4; stroke play is always one player per entry
  • 9 or 18 holes; shotgun starts open each group on its own hole
  • Tee times and groups, so a group keeps score together
  • Flights A to D, each with its own tee if you want
  • Your own rules and notes for the day, shown to every player

Handicaps

Net scoring the USGA way, from the index you bring

Type each player's handicap index. We do the same math the USGA and GHIN use — nothing for you to work out.

  • Course handicap from the index, the slope, the course rating and par
  • Strokes on the right holes, by stroke index — shown on the score screen
  • One handicap per entry — a player's index, or the team's handicap you type for a team format
  • A scratch player is handled correctly — a 0.0 index still gets the course rating part
  • Gross and net boards side by side, so there are two winners

We do not issue official handicaps — you bring the index, we handle the scoring.

Side games

Skins, long drive, closest to the pin

  • Skins track themselves hole by hole and carry when a hole is tied
  • Longest drive and closest to the pin on the holes you choose — the scorekeeper types who holds it
  • Your own side games on any hole
  • Entry fees: mark who has paid at the desk

Sponsors & ads

Free, because it is paid for by ads — or make it yours

  • Free: a short picture ad shows between holes, about every third hole. It never blocks scoring
  • $10: no ads at all for that event
  • $50 Club event: your own sponsor logos on the live board and the score screen, and a turn card at the hole you choose: your menu and the number to call

A printable flyer with a QR code comes with every event.

Good to know

Free events in plain words

What is the catch?
There is none. Free events show a short ad between holes. We make our money on golf trips ($50) and Facility Pro ($150 a year).
How many players can I have?
As many as you need. There is no limit on players or teams for a single-day event.
What happens to the results afterwards?
A free event is cleared 48 hours after it ends, so download the results before then. If you run events all year and want to keep everything, that is what Facility Pro is for.
Can players enter scores before the day?
No. Player scoring opens on the date of the event. You, the organizer, can always enter or correct a score.
What if there is no signal on the course?
A score that cannot be sent shows as not saved, with a button to try again, so nothing is lost silently. Most groups keep one phone as the scorekeeper and check it at the turn.
Is a Ryder Cup or a multi-day event free?
No — anything that runs over several days uses a multi-day credit, $50. See golf trips.
